Lindy Hop Boot Camp (Intermediate/Advanced Level)
September 10, 2016
We are very excited about having a local workshop September 10, 2016 followed by the Triangle Swing Dance Society’s booking of Michael Gamble and the Rhythm Serenaders!
Adam and Abigail will be offering a workshop of Intermediate to Advanced level Lindy Hop instruction at the Lindy Lab in Durham. The material is designed to foster creativity, individuality, technique, and musicality for Lindy Hoppers.
Description: Using multimedia examples during this workshop, we will take an individual and historical perspective as we focus on the fundamental options of movement and styling specific to Lindy Hop. The Swing-Out, the original basic movement of Lindy Hop, is a movement that one refines over a lifetime, and this workshop will help you on your way to your 10,000 hrs experience. We’ll work on how to develop your own style and build partnerships through creative and narrative games.
Requirements for attending: Participants should be very comfortable dancing entire songs in Lindy Hop fundamentals, including Swing Outs, Lindy Circles, footwork variations, adapting to new partners and styles, comfort dancing at fast and slow speeds of music. Knowledge of the Shim Sham(s), basic Charleston, and other jazz movement is highly recommended.
